Not only will you never need to set the Oceanus
atomic watch, you will never need to change the battery
either: Oceanus watches are not only atomic watches,
they are atomic solar watches. With Oceanus' tough
solar system, any light charges the internal battery,
which fully charged, will continue to power the watch
for several months. A power reserve feature preserves
power when the watch is not in use. If you put the
Oceanus atomic watch in darkness for several days, the
watch goes into a dormant mode, but when you expose it
to light once again, it wakes up and the hands spin
around into place and synch up with the US atomic
clock.
Some other interesting features incorporated by
Casio into the Oceanus atomic watch are a dual
analog/digital display with a 1/100 second stopwatch and
5 daily alarms on the Chronograph models. The 3-hand
analog versions of the Oceanus atomic watch each have a
daily alarm. Each Oceanus watch is water resistant to
100 meters and has a sapphire crystal. The dials are all
illuminated by both luminescent material on the hands
and markers as well as LED lights that are push-button
activated. The LED lights can be set to automatically
illuminate when the Oceanus is tilted toward your face
in low-light conditions.
From the standpoint of aesthetics, the Oceanus
atomic solar watch achieves a fine balance between
classic style and high tech. One would not expect an
atomic watch, or better yet, an atomic solar watch to
have an appearance that is nothing short of tasteful and
elegant. We've come to expect that any techy watch
would be encased in black plastic, or look like
something that belongs on the arm of a Star Trek
character. Yet Oceanus has packaged their watch in
fairly classic looking package using the finest
materials including titanium, sapphire crystals, top
grade leather, stainless steel, push button safety
clasps and finely detailed dials. Subtle high tech
details let anyone who sees an Oceanus know there is
more to this watch than meets the eye.
